Not Always the Recommended Solution

Earlier on tonight, Naomi came downstairs, and asked me how long it'd take to format a computer. Told her it all depended on the size of the hard drive, and also asked her why. Apparently she's been getting "CID popups" which I can now confidently say came from her installation of Windows Live Messenger, but the fun part about it was that someone she talks to online had once again informed her that the only way to get rid of them was to format and reinstall XP.

I first told her that she'd have to find her recovery CD that came with her computer, but she couldn't find it (or in her words, she "Never got one"), so I just had her go back upstairs, and sat down to take a look on Google.

In less than 5 minutes, I'd found a site with removal instructions. Simply download and run an uninstaller, reboot, run the uninstaller a second time, remove some entries from the hosts file, and reboot again, just to be safe.

To be honest, there was a time in the past where I thought the only solution to most computer problems was to simply format and reinstall your OS, but my God. I wish I could find whoever's giving her this "advice" and give them a piece of my mind.

Also: she bought herself an iPod Nano. Although she does seem to be the type that absolutely has to have one of those things. To be honest though, the two things I can think of that I still want right now are even more expensive. Fursuit, and / or (emphasis on the or) Macbook (Pro). Probably not either right now, but the thoughts are nice. I guess it just comes down to having money doesn't necessarily mean you have to spend it.

Oh, and since I haven't said anything about it in a while, progress on Super Mario Sunshine: 118 stars. The last two are from the purple comet in the toy galaxy, and from the Daredevil comet in Melted Molten Galaxy. Yay :3

Since we're going grocery shopping tomorrow though, I'm going to make the muffins that have been sitting in the cupboard for the past couple weeks. There's not much else to eat (outside of KD or freezerburned waffles), and I don't feel like going to 7-11 at 3:30 in the morning, so...
