Beat It

Just beat Tales of the Abyss :D I ended up stocking up on items in Sheridan, then just going back to Eldrant and either skipping the enemies on the way completely, or just running from the battles. As a result, when I got up to the save by the stairway, only a bit of Guy's TP was gone, and since it was a green save point, that was refilled without worry. Still though, it Van's second form, I used about half my Life Bottles :o His final stage was fun though. Having a locked 1 HP, and infinite TP opens up the door for all sorts of fun :)

The end was excellent, to put it shortly. I ended up humming along to Tear's singing of the Grand Fonic Hymn all four times (two in the final battle, two in the credits), and I like it. I have the soundtrack on my PSP, so I could listen to it with that, but then I'd probably start humming again, and get weird looks if I was in a public place :p

Still though, I can't put my finger on it, but this game was missing something compared to Tales of Symphonia. In the latter, I was thoroughly pissed off at Mithos, and that was just after going into the Tower of Revitalization (I think that's the name) for the final time in Tethe'alla. Literally, it was like if he existed in real life, I'd still want to hunt him down and kill him. For Van, it was more "Oh, you're the bad guy, but I could care less whether you die or not. I just don't care." Still though, this first play through has been fun, and I just started the second. I only had about 2000 GRADE at the end of the game, so I couldn't buy everything I wanted (I'm surprised I had that much), but it was enough to get me some nice looking things. Now to go through the game again, and see all the foreshadowing and such that the developers snuck in there :)

Erm... WTF? According to this spell checker in Firefox, "snuck" isn't a word, but I could be sure it is :\ Weird.

Anyways, I still have something else to write about. I want to get a new monitor for this computer. I don't really know why, other than I just want to get something new for it :s That's one of the big problems I'm having with convincing myself to actually get one - trying to find justification for it. Seriously, the monitor that's here right now came with our old computer. We got this one back in 2004 or so, and we had the other one for a good 4 or 5 years before that, so yeah. It's amazing it lasted this long, and it seems sort of a pity to replace it because of that fact, especially since, by all appearances, it's in fully working condition. Like, I have enough money in my bank account to get one (last time I knew, something like $4076.00), so the money isn't the problem.

And to think I want to get a laptop as well. I've got enough money to get one as well, but I'd probably die if I were to walk into the bank, up to the counter, and say "I want to withdraw two thousand dollars." That's why I really should consider getting a debit card as well, I suppose. I would, but the problem is I don't know what sort of identification I'd need for that. The only things I really have are my health card, and one of my old student cards. As well, I have to ask myself why I really want a laptop. Well, here are the reasons I can think of:

  • To have somewhere immediately accessible by me and me only to store my more private files and such. My brother's already come across my "stash" (so to speak) once, and I'd rather not have that happen again. The main folder itself is hidden (a folder called "Other" in my My Documents folder), and from time to time, provided I can be bothered to, I'll lock it up with the password protection program I found a while ago.
  • Convenience. This is a big one. To be able to pull it out from wherever I put it in my room, then start playing games or listening to music on it or whatever would be awesome.

Short list, huh? One other thing to consider though is that I've wanted to buy one for at least two years now. I was reading through my old journal sort of thing, that I actually wrote by hand, and I had written a promise to myself in there that if I didn't have enough money to buy a game by such and such a time, that I'd start saving each and every penny I got for a laptop. Obviously that didn't pan out, but it shows that I really did want to get one. Really though, who am I trying to convince? It's just the issue of spending so much money in one go that bothers me. Yeah, Adam blew close to $800 when he bought his 360, but it's not the same.

Well, now that I've typed the above, I don't really want to get a new monitor anymore. Guess what I do want to get though :p Once again, however, I had a hell of a time coming to terms with buying a new video card for this computer, so who knows what it'll be like for something even more expensive.

... I'm going to clean up this room a bit though, then I'm going to bed. I had planned to write more, but I just got to doing some other things, and now I really don't feel like typing anything else in here. I'm just too tired :p
