"EB Games Sucks"

Quote from Josh, earlier on tonight. Yeah, he wasn't supposed to work, but Lisa, our dining room closer, called in sick, so he came into help us. The night itself didn't go too bad. We were steady, but we still got a fair amount of time to sit down. We ended up getting done around 3:05, so I thought "Sweet. I shouldn't do too badly for my place in line at EB." By the time Dad finally got to Taco Bell to get me, it was about 4:00, so we went on our way, and we waited and waited. For two hours we waited, and nobody else showed up. Well, one guy drove in and stopped about halfway EB and Wal-mart, got out of his car, grabbed some blue thing from his trunk, and went around sweeping various junk up from the lot.

At 6, I got tired of waiting, so I simply said "If you want, we can go. Wal-mart isn't open, and if EB Games was open at 7, we wouldn't be the only ones here right now." Several minutes later, he started up the van, and we left. Now I'm just waiting for 7 to come, because he made the suggestion that I try calling them then, and if they're there, then he'll take me back up. I can't see it happening though. I fully well plan on sending in a "Store Issues" complaint from their website, but knowing it, I'll get some form-letter reply back, detailing that such hours were effective in the U.S. only. Bah.

As for a Wii, I'm officially saying screw it. I'll get one when the time comes where I can walk into Wal-mart or EB Games or wherever else, and see plenty of them. Hopefully some time during the Christmas season, but even so, Christmas for me this year is simply going to be "Oh look, a day off. Oh, hey, I have to work the day after it." For the $500 I still have, I dunno. I might just end up going up to the bank and re-depositing it, because I'd rather not spend it needlessly. Keeping it around here without spending it is just asking for trouble as well. It won't be too long before Naomi's rooting through my room, and just happens to brush her hand against where I'm hiding my money right now.

Oh, and one other thing involving work. It's official: Kevin, Amy, Manoah, and Jerome have either quit or are quitting there jobs there, or are transferring to another store (such is Jerome's case). Take Amy out, and we just lost three of our strongest night people. Apparently they just hired some more people today, who will (I'm assuming) be working closes, which is nice and all, but they need to make sure they train those people properly. My night training was simply Josh showing me drive through one night, then getting stuck on it the night after, by myself, just asking for help when I had a problem. For line, it was more learning by watching other people than anything. My "formal" line training consisted of stuffing during some rush with Shelia and Earl, and as well, Alicia, when she still worked there, also told me a bit about it.

Other than that, everything that I know how to do there now was simply learned through "Okay. You're going to do this, and here's how you do it." Completely unsupervised, with just a mental set of instructions. Anyways, the new people. For one thing, it's good to see that we're not getting completely screwed over for nights, and hopefully this'll also see them hiring more people period. Especially for summer, when it comes. The one good thing about all this though is that now, managers aside, I have seniority :p Really though, that's good and / or bad depending on how you look at it.

More Disappointment (Dreams this Time)

What to get for supper... hmm. I was just up at the bank about 20 minutes ago, where I withdrew $80 from my account. Mom got $40 of it for gas money, which left me with the other half, as well as the $10 I still have tucked away upstairs. I didn't bother depositing that $500, because I figure what I said about getting a Wii in my previous entry might have been a bit hasty. I still plan on calling them at the beginning of every week (Monday or Tuesday, probably), and logic dictates that they'll eventually have one available, and as I've said before, I'd rather have the money ready when I need it, rather than having to go to the bank to get it first. This is really a fine example of why I should get a debit card, but I don't want one of those 'till we get our money from Grandpa. As for keeping it out of reach of Naomi, I've still got my little box with a lock on it, which should work quite nicely. The place I've got my money hidden in right now works fine enough, and she hasn't found it yet, but I'd rather not take my chances.

Anyways, I had another rather depressing dream while I was sleeping earlier. We were still up at EB Games, waiting for them to open, when I noticed that Wal-Mart was open, so I suggested we run by there so I could check out what they had. No sooner than Dad started up the van though, did I glance behind me and notice that EB Games was in fact open, so I quickly jumped out, and ran to the door, where some guy was unlocking it. I said something about "So you guys are open at 7". He said yes, then I asked him "Please tell me you have Wiis", to which he said yes as well, so I rushed into the store, where a bunch of other people were at the counter. I told the guy behind it that I wanted a Wii, then pulled the envelope of money out of my pocket, and looked up to see him grabbing something off the shelf that looked like a cross between an SNES, and a game for it. Then he took that over to the door to the back room, and I woke up in excitement, which faded drastically to a feeling of overwhelming sadness after I realized it was only a dream.

Why do all the good things have to happen in dreams? Reminds me of one I had back when I was still a kid. We were watching America's Funniest Home Videos on TV (the old one with Bob Saget), and for whatever reason, he was handing chocolate out through the TV :p I rushed out of my room, into the TV room because I really wanted to get some, grabbed it, went to bite into it, and woke up. Yeah.

I think that's about all I have to say for now though.

People at 7-11 are Stupid

They're advertising some cappuccino thing there, okay? How do they have it spelt on their sign? "Cappucchino" XD Then on the way back home, I could swear some guy yelled at me from his van, and there was what looked like a fire truck stopped right on top of the Lacroix St. bridge. Amazing what things happen at 11 at night :)

Earlier tonight sucked though. I wanted to go to Taco Bell for supper, but I knew if I went inside, I'd get asked to come in and work. Note that I didn't realize I had the "advantage" of having a cold right then. I decided "Well, what if we go through the drive through?" It seemed like it'd work, but who was on it? Josh. As soon as we pulled up to the window though, he asked me if I wanted to hang with him tonight, because he was done in a couple hours. I told him I couldn't because of my cold, then he switched the subject to asking me about EB Games last night. Frustrating, yes, but I'd already given him express permission to say whatever he wanted if things didn't work out.

The getting to Taco Bell in itself was frustrating enough though. For whatever reason, the Santa Claus Parade was running at 8 tonight. I don't know when it started, but we first drove up towards the bridge over by the police station, and found that traffic wasn't moving at all. Then we saw a float drive very slowly across the intersection. We backtracked from there, to the Lacroix St. bridge. It was blocked off as well, so we ended up going all the way over to the one that's on the same street as Subway, Value Village, Home Hardware, etc. (I can't think of the name), then all the way over to Taco Bell from there. And of course, by the time we reached the other side of the Lacroix St. bridge, the parade was over, and everyone was on their way home.

On the way, it also came to my attention that CKSY, at least, is playing Christmas music from now 'till Sunday. Why? If you're going to start now, you might as well keep playing it straight through 'till Christmas. Makes me glad I hardly use my radio anymore. I like Christmas music just as much as the next guy, but too much of it is, well, too much.

Anyways, I'm watching a movie now. Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. For some reason, it just came to my mind the other night, so I figured I'd download it. No, it's not The Secret, but I'll get to that one eventually :)
