So Much for the Excitement

We went to the bank about 6 and a half hours ago now (so around 5), to take care of our money stuff. Mom paid me back for the $1,000 I loaned her so she could pay her Visa bill, as well as Naomi gave me $100 (as reimbursment of sorts for all the money she's stolen from us in the past), as well as I deposited my check, so in a matter of a couple seconds I went from having $2,369.54 in my bank account, to a whopping $13,506.66 :3 We're still going to be heading to the bank tomorrow, so Dad can pay me back the money I gave him to get the van fixed ($2,500), as well as according to what we were told, there's still more on the way, although it's more in the range of ~$2,000. Quite a bit less than what we just got, but still nothing to sneeze at.

One of the things I was thinking about involving the money for a while though was that when I got it, I wanted to get a debit card as well. There's enough stress involved in going up to the teller and asking to withdraw $500, let alone something with 4 digits. Sure, they can't exactly refuse you, but it still just wouldn't seem right. So to avoid that problem, I thought "Okay. I'll get a debit card, and that way I won't have to go to the bank every time I want to spend money." So I told the teller that I wanted to get one today, and she had me sit down and wait for another lady, and when she finally came along, we got down to work. Unfortunately, their system was down, for some reason, so I told her I'd try coming back tomorrow, and was on my way.

Went home from there, for about a half hour, before we were off to pick Adam up from work, and then to Smittys. Nothing really notable happened there. We left around quarter after 7, and went out to Wal-Mart. Well, Naomi and her friend went to Wal-Mart, and me and Adam went to EB Games. I hate the people there now. Walked in, and glanced up at the top rack of the Wii section, and there, right in front of me, were three of them. Well, that's what I thought at the time. I would later find out that they were only boxes :\ I did end up getting a really nice guide for Twilight Princess. Probably the only game-related book I've ever held in my hands that was hard-cover. The gold edging on the pages is a nice touch as well. The cloth game map is really cool as well. Definitely worth the ~$40 The one annoying thing about it though was that as I was looking at it, I wondered aloud whether it was for the Gamecube version or not, and the person behind the counter said that they thought so. Not until I got home did I happen to notice this bit of text on the insert for it: "Written specifically for the Wii version!" Bah.

So tomorrow, barring anything else from happening, I'm going to be going to the bank around 10 in the morning with Mom and Dad, so Mom can give some of her money to Dad (she'd planned to do so, and it's not like it's going to affect anything, seeing as she got $50,000 (:o)), and Dad can pay me back, and also hopefully I'll be able to get a debit card. Provided I do, we'll then be heading out to Future Shop, and possibly Staples, so I can get a laptop, then back home, until 7, which is when I have to go to work. If I'm not able to get a debit card though, I may just ask Mom if she'll pay for me, then I'll pay her back. She already offered to do so for Naomi, but things didn't work out for that tonight, so whatever.

As for the laptop itself, I suppose I should actually figure out what I'm looking for, because right now, my attitude's more "Find the best one, and get it". In general, I'd like something that's either equal or better than this computer here. Specifically, something with at least a 2GHz processor, at least 1GB of RAM, a 256MB video card (or better), and at least 100GB of hard drive space. One that did look pretty nice is this one right here.

I think for now though, I'm just going to clean things up here, then head upstairs. I'm actually feeling rather drowsy right now, and although that feeling's likely just going to pass, I'd rather not take my chances.

So Much for That...

My God. We were just at the bank, and everything went smoothly for my getting a debit card, only to find out, when we got to the paperwork, that there's a limit of $1,000 daily spending, as well as a $500 limit on ATM withdrawls. Also, for some stupid reason, I agreed to put $5,000 into some sort of savings account, but that's only good for a year, so once it's up, screw renewing it. Screw the whole interest thing in general. If I have a certain amount of money in my account, I like it to stay at that much, as opposed to increasing or decreasing. Same thing goes for another $2,000, so where I once had over 10K, I now only have ~$6,000.

So it's like, what the hell am I supposed to do about getting a laptop now? I could try asking Mom, but she's already buying Naomi one, and Naomi's paying her back, and I doubt she's up for spending so much money in one day. Screw it though. I'm at least going to be getting up to Staples sometime this afternoon to see how much they are there. Techincally, I could just go up to the teller and ask to withdraw the money, but that just wouldn't work.

So for now, we're just waiting on Adam to call to be picked up so he can go get his lunch, then I'm going to ask if we can go out to Staples. If it really comes to it, I guess I'm going to be withdrawing $500 a day for the next week. It's a last resort, but hey.

Got One After All

This is pretty sweet :) The keyboard's going to take a bit of getting used to, but otherwise, I like this laptop. We were up at Staples earlier, but before we went there, we stopped by the bank, so I could deposit the $2,500 check Dad wrote me for what I loaned him to fix the van, and I also stopped by the ATM, and withdrew $500. I figured that if I had a $1,000 a day spending limit, I could also get the $500 I was entitled to take from my account per day, so that way, I'd have some more money.

No though. We got there, and the first thing I noticed was a 4GB PSP memory stick, so I'm thinking of heading up there sometime in the remainder of the week to get that. Turned around to look at the laptops, and for the most part, they were pretty nice. Some were expensive, but of course, that's to be expected. One I was looking at was ~$1,500, and out of the blue, Mom says that she'll pay for it on her Visa, provided I paid her back. The first one I decided on wasn't in stock, so I settled for this one, and I'm glad I did. The one annoyance is the "Toshiba Offerings" thing in the start menu, but that shouldn't be too difficult to remove.

Anyways, it's almost 6:30 right now, so I'm just gonna end this here. I will, however, write something longer when I get home, from upstairs in my room, where I'm much more comfortable :3
