I left the house around quarter to 8, because I was bored just sitting around here. When I arrived at Taco Bell, I walked in, looked around at what was and was not done, talked to Tina for a bit, and then rotated torts. It still wasn't 8 when I got done that, so I went to the back, and started working on the dishes. There weren't too many there, but there were enough that if we didn't tend to them immediately, they would start stacking up. I don't know who was washing 'em before me, but the sinks were filthy. Even the middle one (which is normally empty) was plugged up with beef and bean and who knows what else. Just as I got done the dishes that were in the sinks, and started to drain them, Jerome came back and asked me if I wanted to work tonight. At first I was thinking "WTF?", then he said that I hadn't clocked in. He fixed that though, so there's nothing to worry about there.
Finally, about 9:30, I finished the last dish, so I started sweeping the back, because the floor was a mess, then went up on line. Kevin was up there, and said something about how the music (Christmas music) was putting him in the mood for Dairy Queen. I brought money specifically for that sort of thing tonight, so it was nice that things worked out. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go with him, because doing so would've left Manoah, Jerome, and Steph to handle things by themselves, and although they could've, it would not have been pretty.
See, after Kevin left, I started deckscrubbing, and got about as far as sweeping the water off line, when Manoah told me to stop what I was doing, and come up on line to help Steph. That was annoying right there, because he's not a manager. If he had asked me "Could you please stop what you're doing, and come up and help Steph, because she's not going to be able to handle things by herself" as opposed to "Stop what you're doing and come help Steph", then I might've been a bit more willing to do what he asked. Anyways, then we got busy. People kept coming in the dining room, and there was no end to the orders from drive through. Of course, just as Kevin got back, things died down again :x
Several minutes after that, Manoah went out to lock the dining room, as it was 11, then started going on some thing about how he was done at 11, so there was nothing to stop him from walking out the door and such. That went nowhere though, because next thing I knew, he was out in the dining room getting it cleaned up.
From 11 to 12 we were pretty much dead, enough so at least that we were all able to enjoy our stuff from Dairy Queen. At 12, Jerome gave Steph his headset, because he had to go do something, so I figured "Nice. Maybe I won't have to be on drive through after all." As you might figure though, come 12:30, he comes up to me asking me to take the headset from Steph, because we had agreed earlier on in the night that he'd do it for the first part, and I'd do it for the other half. I suppose it was for the best though, because at that point, we got into a one and a half hour stop 'n go rush. By that I mean that although we weren't insanely busy (wrapped around the building), the cars were still steady. At 2:00, the bar rush started, and once Jerome finished his counts (around 2:30), he came down to help cash me out. I have several receipts from the bar rush, that are pretty big, so here they are:

Yeah. The alignment's really off, but it gets the job done. After getting several of those orders, it made me glad I wasn't on line :) Bar rush ended a couple minutes after 3, and things were pretty much caught up, so we all went out and sat down in the dining room and had something to eat. I had just some chicken and 3-cheese wrapped up in a 10 1/2" tortilla. That's one of the (admittedly few) benefits of working there. If you want something to eat, you can make whatever your heart desires, regardless of whether it's on the menu or not.
Anyways, before I went out to sit down, I turned off the main sign and the lights at the head of the driveway (which I now know are 16 and 30 on the second panel at the back), so I figured most people would think we were closed. However, someone pulled in around 3:20, and more and more people followed after them, totaling about 5 cars in all. We had another small rush around 3:40, but after that, no more cars came, except for one that pulled in right after I turned my headset off. Good timing :D
I work tomorrow, 8 to close, with Manoah and Glenda, which shouldn't go too badly. I notice we don't have a set dining room closer though, so we may run into problems there. Seriously though, if it comes to it, Glenda can go out and do the dining room, because me and Manoah can hold things down fine ourselves. After tomorrow, I have Monday and Tuesday off, so that's something to look forward to, and after that, I work Wednesday, then I'm off on Thursday, and back for Friday and Saturday, at very least. Friday and Saturday are going to be interesting, because it's at least me, Kevin, Josh, and Ange working. Thank God they're not putting Ange on closes by herself anymore though. I have a feeling someone finally took notice that she wasn't doing very well by herself, so they're scheduling another closing manager on with her now. I don't like working with her period, but I get by.
Seeing these new people start working is going to be interesting though. It's going to be like when I started, except I'll be the one down on line steaming all the orders. I'm really taking the place of the people who were steaming when I was new now. It'll certainly be interesting. Like I was telling Kevin on the ride home though, I wish the four people that are quitting would've given Earl more notice of such, because then it'd allow us time to train the new people, so they know some of what they're expected to do when we need them, as opposed to nothing.
As well, now that I think of it, I've now got something to start my "Christmas List". A good pair of headphones. Not the huge clunky things either. I prefer the ones that fit into your ears. Reason being that I was listening to the same song I am right now (Good King Joy) once we were closed earlier tonight, and the "loud" part of the song was way too quiet, even when I had my PSP at max. volume. Either that or a decent MP3 player. Yeah, my PSP works for that sort of thing, but it strikes me as being not the best either. It's really going to be strange this year though. This is literally the first Christmas where me and Adam (at least) have had our own money to buy the things we wanted. Previously, we depended on our parents at Christmas to buy us things we really wanted to get, so this year, we're more than likely to already have the stuff that we would've asked for. What would be cool to do is simply make up a list of things I want, then give my parents $200 or something, and say "Surprise me". Just to let them know that they don't have to worry about paying for the things. Well, I could also do that for my birthday, seeing as it is coming up pretty soon, but that'd really be uncomfortable. For Christmas, indirectly buying your own gifts is acceptable, but not on your birthday :p
Whatever though. I'm going to bed now. I really don't want to be down here when Adam and Dad get up, because that's always awkward. Until tomorrow...
