Yet Another List-Type Entry

The only thing different this time is that the items are in chronological order, because I don't feel like jumping about and still trying to keep everything coherent. Thus, beginning from yesterday, notable events have been as follows:

a] Pic Pic's maze paint puzzles have been completely finished. Eight before doing the dishes, another solved (but not copied into paint) before starting them, and the final one completed immediately following those. Even better than that, I've already done 40 of the Magipic sort, which is far quicker than I was expecting. I did twenty yesterday, and the same number today, so with any luck level 1 will be finished before the middle of next week, but I'm in no rush, because using the keyboard instead of mouse is a bit unusual. iDeaS is noticeably slower than DeSmuME as well, but I'll get used to that in time too. It's kind of funny that this continues to remain a largely pointless project, because GameFAQs still hasn't accepted my Drawing puzzles guide. Or rather, I don't think they even got it, probably because of the file size, but that's why I'm holding off on doing anything with the rest until after they're all completed.

b] As stated in my previous entry, I was going to get a snack from 7-11 as a reward for finishing the mazes, but instead I went to Sobeys, hoping to find more of the cheap candy they had up at the front last time. Alas, they were all gone, so I settled for two boxes of swiss cheese crackers, and walked through the chip and pop aisle on my way up to the checkout. Wanting to prove to myself again that they didn't have Bugles, I kept an eye on the chips as I walked by, but what would I see on the very top shelf at the end, but several bags of those. Yes indeed. About a week after my desire to find them has been satisfied, I find more than one at a place that previously had none in stock. Bearing that in mind though, I still didn't buy any more, because they weren't what I was there for.

c] Waking up at 1pm today was hardly what I would've wished to do, but in spite of that, my first day back to Heart and Stroke was decently satisfying. The first thing Michele asked me (aside from "How are you?") was what I wanted my $40 to be put towards. Money that would've been used to get me a Christmas / birthday gift, but as I missed the Christmas party, there was no need, and this is the first time I've seen her since. I opted for cash, when she offered that option, because in her own words, she "understands that I don't use the knick-knacks she gets for everybody else", and I would honestly prefer to just get money and spend it on what I want. Besides, this way I can say it's taken me at least 6 years of "working" there to get paid <3 At least I think that's how long I've been going there for, but it's been quite a long time at any rate. So that was one of the fun parts of the afternoon, and the other was being given an easy job today. Making up a couple to-do lists for her and Steve. Nothing more than boxes, lines, and a little bit of text in Excel.

However, to counter those two good things, there were also a couple annoyances. One was a new volunteer or employee (I'm still not sure which) sitting directly on my desk to talk on the phone while I was in Heather's office taking care of something. Had I not been occupied, I might have said "Would you please move. I was doing work there", but next time I will, or at least a pointed "Excuse me" that conveys a simple "Get your bum off the desk!". As for the second thing, after I'd finished making those lists, Michele called one "John" from a different office, who instructed me to unhook Heather's computer and replace it with a new one that was in the back, which we proceeded to begin installing XP on. From the network, that is, which was a bit different for me, but the pertinent information was that he advised me to watch the progress indicator to see if it went past 0%, then said he'd call back. In the meantime, I busied myself with packing the other computer back up into the same box, making sure everything fit nicely and that the box could be closed properly, only to have him phone back about ten minutes after that to say the image file being used for installation was corrupt, and that we'd have to try another day, so I should hook the old computer up again, and put the new one back in the box for the time being. By that point I was already half an hour late for heading home (I told Michele I'd be leaving at 4), but still made it in time anyways.

d] When I got home, Mom asked if Adam told me Josh had stopped by. He hadn't, so she went on to say that he and his girlfriend were pounding at my door for an unspecified amount of time, until she realized I wasn't at home and informed them of such. In that light I'm surprised they didn't come to Heart and Stroke, but I'll probably end up hearing some sort of story regarding the two of them from Manoah tomorrow. I do feel find of bad for this being the second time I haven't been around when he was here (although there was one night they came to Taco Bell while I was working about a month ago, but I only saw them for about a minute before heading back to continue the dishes), but to be frank, it looks good on them (Josh, anyways) for more or less accusing me of not having a life in the past. Well, maybe not that, but saying they were concerned about me because I never seemed to want to do anything anymore, but I had my reasons then (although I can't recall what they were now), and can only surmise that they think I'm still "the same way" these days.

e] Money matters. In the past 24 hours I've spent close to $300, but made about $440 as well. Spending came from giving Mom and Dad their money for this month, as well as my trip to Sobeys and one other purchase made last night, and the $440 increase comes from getting paid ~$350, and depositing that $90 GST check this afternoon. Overall that's not bad, but I'm still having trouble getting up above 2,000 again. I think I'd like to be at that before going to London, but the problem right now is lack of customers at work, which results in all of our shifts getting cut back. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if we were only open until midnight again sometime soon, but I was expecting to get considerably less this week, so I shouldn't complain. Overall, my trips to 7-11 and other such places have decreased quite a bit, and using most of my free time to work on Pic Pic has kept me from finding things online that I might spend money on without even thinking about otherwise (music from Lapfox Trax is the only exception, but they're cheap and infrequent enough to be negligible), so I'm satisfied :3

f] The results of using my bread maker. To make a long story short, I made one loaf earlier tonight. Plain white bread, a little to crusty for my taste, and one of the mixing things became embedded in the bottom so I had to cut out a square of the bread to retrieve it, but it's gone already (the bread, not the mixing blade). Due to the popularity of that, I'm going to spend some time on either Friday or Monday making one of two types. My choices are Cheddar Bacon Bread, or a plain cheese variety instead. They both sound tempting at the moment (one for the bacon, the other for the sour cream), but I'll work out which in a few days. I might even consider making both, but there's only one thing that would prevent that. The time required. I started everything at 6:24pm this afternoon, and it took until 10 to finish. Maybe that's to be expected, but I don't yet have the patience to wait three and a half hours for a loaf of bread, especially if and when I make one that requires certain ingredients to be added after the dough has been kneaded. We'll see, I suppose, but for now I'm happy enough with it. If only I could find somewhere to keep the thing aside from my room I might be even moreso, but it's not like there isn't enough space in here.

Aside from those, this has been a mostly normal night. Went out to Tim Hortons for some Timbits earlier, and right now I'm staying up until 8 just in case this page I'm keeping an eye on changes, but that's about it. Back to work tomorrow night for one close with Manoah, then I have Friday off, but have some plans for that already, as indicated in the cut up there. In between now and then I should probably vacuum, because I didn't get around to it tonight (I fell asleep for ~15 minutes at 12, and spent the rest of the time working on Pic Pic followed by writing this entry), but until then, I'm going to go back to Pic Pic again, and hope I don't fall asleep a second time, because if I do I likely won't wake up until the afternoon. Nothing too unusual~
