Now For the Long Part

Seems like I have no choice but to go with the 64-bit version of Windows 7. I installed x86 first, and tried two different patches to make the additional ~3GB of RAM available, but Windows just refused to boot after that. Now I'm on x64, having already spent about two hours waiting for it to install, and going through basic drivers, and partitioning the hard drive - pretty much everything I mentioned yesterday - but I'm not done yet. Not even close. First up is downloading and installing updates, the first bunch of which are 88 in number, and 292.1MB in size, then there will surely be more after that, and I'll have to be very deliberate and careful to make sure I uncheck SP1, lest I get about a third of the way done and have to start all over again. Suffice it to say though, I am writing this from my new laptop. First impressions outside of using it at Future Shop are that it's nice, reasonably more powerful than my previous laptop, and definitely a good buy at $130 off the original price when I bought it (I wonder if it's just a coincidence that I could only get the one that was on display...). Somebody obviously cleaned the screen, but it's new apart from that. The only major difference is that I was quite literally only given the laptop and a bag with the power adapter and copy of the receipt in it, but that's alright. One complaint might be that the keyboard is rather noisy, but I imagine I'll get used to, and possibly even grow to like that in time.

That aside, I hope this stress related to these things is at an end now. I fell asleep for about twenty minutes at ~12:50 last night, so it was after 1 in the morning when I woke up again, and because I wanted tomorrow to come faster for one, and was kind of freaked out from reading scary stories for two, I called it a night right then. Woke up at 10pm after that, and have been awake since then. I imagine I might get tired later, same as yesterday night, but I did buy groceries earlier, so there will be no snacks. Might save those for tomorrow, in hopes that I'm able to get this laptop fully up and running by then, but for tonight, supper will probably be garlic bread and pudding or something of the sort. I can't stay up too late, for going to Heart and Stroke again tomorrow, but as before, that may be almost over with. Michele said there was a good chance we'd be done as of tomorrow, whereas I think - judging from how many envelopes are left - we should be done by next week at latest, so maybe I'll offer to start at 1. Have more time to finish up, and maybe be done early. Today went pretty smoothly otherwise as well, with perhaps one complaint from myself that I need to find other music to listen to. The same couple albums (and therein, the same selection of songs) afternoon after afternoon is becoming tiresome.

For tonight though, I just want to go get some supper ready, then wait for updates to install. Nothing else really to do right now~
