On the better side of things, I think yesterday went pretty well, but how do I approach it? In a point-form list, I suppose, because I frustratingly do not have the patience for detailing events in full.
a] Mary was more or less understanding about the state of our close on Sunday, saying that she could see it had been busy at the end of the night, and also that James had stopped by earlier that afternoon to say the same thing. Good for the time, and I know we generally do a better job than that the rest of the time, but if it continues, who's to say what could happen?
b] After some delay, Manoah came by to pick up his blanket, and to give me a gift of my own - a $20 Walmart gift card, which works rather well, considering I still want to go there tomorrow before work. He didn't open his blanket right away, so I'm not sure if that means he opened it today, or just wanted to wait until he got it home, but I'm sure I'll see him on Friday or Saturday, so I can ask how he likes it then.
c] I had to walk from work to the church, thanks to Manoah's delay (I told Dad not to wait around for me). When everybody else arrived, Naomi and I sat up in the very front row, which will be about the only time I've been up there other than once as a kid, and even then, I may have been in the second row back then. I can't remember
d] Similar to the above, following things at the church, I walked over to Aunt Marie and Uncle Mark's house on my own, because it was faster to do that than to wait for a ride. Adam, Trish, and Naomi had to go home to get something for Ericka, and Mom, Dad, and Ericka stayed at the church for a bit because Dad was talking to some people. As for me, I chatted with Aunt Marie and Uncle Mark about a few things, made some joke about trick-or-treating on Christmas Eve when Adam, Trish, and Naomi arrived, and once everybody else came by, only a few more things were said, and a gift was given to Ericka before we went back to have some snacks. Cheeses, meats, and crackers, per usual, but also pumpkin pie, cookies, little candy cane tarts, and Rice Krispies squares. Aunt Marie took a picture of all of us together before we left, and then we went home.
e] Contrary to what I was expecting / hoping for, the night after that consisted entirely of getting the device Ericka received from Aunt Marie and Uncle Mark set up, and trying to get something that had come for me working, which I'll write about separately after this. I was expecting something along the lines of what happened last year, where everybody but Dad and Ericka hung out in the living room to play games and eat more snacks, but instead of that, Naomi and Mom brought down some gifts, then pretty much went straight up to their rooms, Adam and Ericka went into the dining room to play some game on his 360, and I eventually went upstairs myself, after realizing nothing more was going to happen. A disappointment, to say the least, but there's still New Year's Eve, even though I haven't decided what I want to do then. Should I order supper from Little Caesars or Pizza Tonite and keep to myself in my room, or should I enjoy that platter with everybody downstairs, and see what happens there? I already feel like asking everybody to chip in to pay for that platter, because so far as I know, I didn't get any of the cinnamon buns or apple cider that were purchased for this morning. I could just have the entire platter to myself, but that's a lot of food...
Now, as for that thing that I worked on after getting Ericka's toy set up... My copy of DJMAX Technika Tune did arrive yesterday, suffice it to say. Not in the morning, as mentioned then, but when they arrived at Aunt Marie and Uncle Mark's house, Adam told me another package had come for me, and that he would've brought it with him, but wasn't sure if he should do that or not. Looking back now, it wouldn't have done much good, because the game is seemingly incompatible with firmware 1.80. It would install, but upon opening the livearea to actually launch the game, my Vita would freeze, and upon restart, would give a message saying that it wasn't properly shut down. I thought for a few minutes, trying to decide if sending an email about the matter was really worth it, but I figured they'd just advise me to upgrade my firmware, so that's just what I did. I now have 2.02 (I believe), and the game is working. What's more, though, is that since I temporarily have access to the PS Store again, I downloaded just about every free application I could find, as well as the demo for Gravity Rush (which I've already beaten), and DLC for the same. And here I thought I could go an entire month without making any charges other than the internet on my credit card. Oh well. At least that's only $10. I'll wait for the usual three days, and then just pay that off once it shows in my recent activity, so I don't have to worry about it. As for the game (DJMAX), it's fun, and different, but also hard. Even on easy, it's hard, which makes me so very confident about what's to come.
At any rate, I've just gone out to ask Mom and Dad if they could say when we'll be eating. Dad said probably around 5, but Mom said more like 3:30, even though it's after 3:30 right now, so I assume she means 4:30. I told them I want to give them the gifts I have at / around 6, so now it's just a matter of finding other things to do until then. I know of several things I could do, but I might as well start by picking myself up and getting ready for what's to come, instead of dwelling on the unimpressive beginning to the day. The first item on my list? Going to see if there are any cinnamon buns or cider left. I don't absolutely need something to eat, but a drink would be nice~
